Research and Consulting Institute

The Institute of Research and Consultation (IRC) at the University of Jeddah was established in 1436 AH (2015) to advance the University’s strategic initiatives in alignment with the vision of the modern Saudi university.
Today, the IRC stands as one of the key strategic partners for public and private institutions—both within the Kingdom and internationally—by delivering high-quality professional services with exceptional attention to client needs.

The Institute strives to strengthen the knowledge economy by supporting University members in providing consulting services that showcase the University’s capabilities and enhance its financial sustainability.
It is considered one of the University’s main pillars in ensuring the continuity of consulting and developmental services through a diverse range of activities and offerings that include paid educational programs, consulting services for the public and private sectors, academies and specialized expertise houses, and contract-based services.

Moreover, the IRC plays a pivotal role in preparing and reviewing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) concluded with external partners at both the local and international levels

Agency Tasks
  • Implementation of projects and consultancy studies for the public and private sectors inside and outside the Kingdom
  • Enabling university staff to provide consulting and research services in accordance with regulatory controls that ensure the quality of outputs.
  • Establishing and operating academies and specialized centers of expertise in various scientific and applied fields.
  • Supervising paid educational programs (graduate programs, preparatory year programs) in coordination with the relevant colleges.
  • Developing and implementing training and development programs for individuals and governmental and private entities
  • Providing technical and administrative support services for organizing conferences, forums, and scientific events.
  • Contributing to the university's financial sustainability by developing its own resources through consulting and educational services.
  • Building and activating local and international strategic partnerships in the fields of research, development and consulting.
  • Supporting the knowledge transformation and knowledge economy by marketing the university's research and technological outputs.
  • Implementing financial and administrative governance systems in accordance with the executive rules of the Research and Consulting Institute and university regulations.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of projects and consultancy contracts, and ensuring their adherence to quality and feasibility standards.

  • Implementing digital transformation projects and technical solutions for public and private organizations.
  • Developing operational and business plans for development projects and initiatives.
  • Conducting economic and technical feasibility studies for investment and development projects.

  • Designing organizational structures, job descriptions, and process re-engineering models.

  • The Research and Consulting Institute, through the Conference and Events Center at Jeddah University, offers a range of support services that contribute to supporting scientific, research, and consulting activities within and outside the university, including:
  • Organizing and managing local and international scientific conferences and forums, including full logistical, technical and media preparation.
  • Conducting workshops and specialized forums in academic, consulting and technical fields.
  • Providing technical and administrative support in the preparation, implementation, follow-up, and documentation phases of official and scientific events.
  • Providing halls and facilities equipped with the latest audio, display, simultaneous interpretation and live broadcasting systems.
  • Designing visual identities and media materials for conferences and coordinating with relevant parties to ensure a professional and integrated appearance.
  • Coordinating the hosting of speakers and participating delegations from inside and outside the Kingdom, and providing the necessary protocol services.
Paid Educational Services
  • Supervised by the Institute of Research and Consulting (IRC) at the University of Jeddah.
  • Includes: • Paid postgraduate programs. • Preparatory and foundation year programs.
  • Implemented in partnership with colleges, academies, and specialized expertise houses.
  • The IRC oversees the financial and administrative management of all paid educational programs.
  • It is responsible for payment and collection processes through the University’s electronic payment system.
  • The Institute also manages refund procedures in accordance with approved financial policies and regulations.
  • These services aim to meet labor market needs and enhance professional skills.
  • They contribute to the University’s financial sustainability and the growth of its self-generated revenues
Academies and specialized centers of expertise
  • The academies and specialized centers of expertise are one of the executive arms of the Research and Consulting Institute at Jeddah University, and aim to enable colleges and university staff to provide educational, consulting and applied services that promote the knowledge economy and financial sustainability. They are divided into three main areas:
  • Development, Training, and Educational Services Academies: These academies provide training programs, professional diplomas, and paid educational programs, and focus on building human capacity in both the public and private sectors.
  • Expertise firms specializing in studies, consultations, and applied solutions: Specializing in preparing studies and consulting projects, and providing administrative, technical, and economic solutions to support decision-making and improve institutional performance.
  • Expertise centers for central laboratories and research facilities: Providing specialized technical services and laboratory tests, and supporting research and development projects to improve the quality of national products and services.
